Work reaches you three ways: matched recommendations, direct client invitations, and offers sent to you after a client reads your profile.
Getting matched more often
- Complete Professional Details. Incomplete profiles rank badly.
- Be specific about methods. Matching works on method and field; vague profiles match vaguely.
- Keep availability current. Marked unavailable, you stop being suggested.
- Set a realistic minimum budget. Set too high, very little reaches you; too low, you get work you will resent.
- Deliver on time. Delivery history feeds matching.
Judging a brief before bidding
- Is the research question clear enough to scope?
- Does the client say what data they hold?
- Is the deadline realistic for the method?
- Is the budget plausible for the work?
- Is it within the [Academic Guidelines](/academic-guidelines)?
Decline these
A brief that asks for work the client intends to submit as their own, asks you to reach a predetermined conclusion, or involves human-subject data without ethical approval. Decline and report it. You are not obliged to explain yourself at length.
